Terms

Minimum rates are set according to annual guidelines published by the Editorial Freelancers Association. For estimates, 1 hour of work will equal approximately 500 words of text for editing or 1,000 words for proofreading.

Work begins only after we have agreed in writing on an estimated project rate and all necessary assets have been received.

Projects requiring fast turnarounds may be billed at higher rates. Generally "rush fees" apply to deadlines within two weeks of beginning a project, but ultimately they depend on the amount of labor, timeframe, general availability and timely receipt of assets.

Estimates are subject to change. Client will be notified if and when final project costs are expected to grow more than 25% of the initial estimate. Final invoices are prorated per half hour. Payment is required within 30 days to comply with California and New York independent-contractor regulations. After 30 days a 10% weekly late fee will be assessed.

The author will retain copyright of all bylined material, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
